TaKeOvEr DaRe 11

Be still today.  Our society tells us that we must be constantly moving or we will die.  America (and other country, to a lesser extent) have this ‘swim to live’ mentality.  It is like we are all sharks and if we don’t keep swimming through life doing activity after activity and thinking thought after thought, we will drown.

This fellow believers is just a lie.

“Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him”

That my friends is a quote from Psalm 37 (verse 7, part a).  The word used for ‘be still’ is the Hebrew damam which means to rest and to be silent (also it means tobe silenced). Damam comes from the Hebrew worddaham which means to be astonished.

The Dare:Today when you have your quite time with God take some time to be still and wait for him.  Rest. Be silent. Be astonished.

TaKe OvEr DaRe 7

Self pity is one of the most prominent problem in modern society. We often go through the day thinking about injustices committed against us. We marinade in our problems. We make a religion of turning thoughts towards every thing that doesn’t go perfectly for us.

So today’s dare is to consider self pity as satanic (in the words of pastor Joshua Brooks). If you think about it; self pity is in fact a form of distrust and a lack of faith in God. If we really trusted God fully we would be content with our circumstances knowing that He knows what’s best.

Trust God and pray whenever you are tempted to give into self pity.

TaKeOvEr DaRe 3

“Be slow to anger” was the remainder of the scripture passage in James. “Be quick to listen and slow to speak. Be slow to anger”. Today’s dare is about adding that last part to yesterday’s dare.  It is not just about listening and being wise in our words, but also about being calm and loving.

Today, try to be calm, wise (in a Biblical way), and a good listener. Again, if this is hard for you to remember, write it on post it notes or on your arm. You may think that doing such a thing is silly or trivial, but you would be amazed how big of an impact it can have on your life and others.

It’s time for a Love Take Over.  This summer HISway is challenging teens to do the Love TaKeOvEr.  As you go along with the challenge, share your victories and falls and stories with us via the fan mail option. Don’t let another summer go by, don’t let another week or even day go by without trying to take over the world with the amazing Love of our God.
What is Love TaKeOvEr?
Love TaKeOvEr is a daily challenge put on by HISway teens to encourage young followers to carry out the two greatest commandments in the bible: to love God with all your heart and to love others as yourself. Every day we will be posting a “TaKeOvEr DaRe” for you to try out for the day.  See if the challenges don’t help you.
So leave comments, feed-back, and questions. And get ready for the Love TaKeOvEr because if you do it, you will be amazed with the power of God.
